Laser Treatment – Pre Treatment Information

Ahead of your upcoming laser treatment, to ensure your treatment is safe and effective, please read and follow the guidelines below carefully prior to your appointment.

BEFORE YOUR LASER TREATMENT

2 weeks prior to treatment:

  • No Sun Exposure: Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and any sunburn. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily if outdoors.
  • No Fake Tan: Do not apply any self-tanning products (including gradual tanners) for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment. Fake tan must be fully removed from the skin.
  • No Waxing, Plucking or Electrolysis: These hair removal methods should be avoided on the treatment area for 2 weeks before.
  • Ensure you have a valid GP referral if you are having a Medicare rebatable treatment.

 

1 week prior to treatment:

  • No Active Skincare on Area: Discontinue the use of products containing active ingredients such as Retinol, AHAs, BHAs, or Vitamin C on the treatment area unless advised otherwise.
  • Avoid Blood Thinners: If safe to do so, avoid anti-inflammatory or blood thinning medications (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen) which may increase the risk of bruising. Please consult with your doctor before stopping any medication.

 

24-48 hours prior to treatment:

  • No Alcohol or Smoking: Refrain from alcohol or smoking for at least 24 hours prior to treatment.
  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin well-hydrated.
  • Shave if Required: If your treatment area includes hair, you may be asked to shave the area the day before. Please check with our team if unsure.

 

On the day of treatment:

  • Arrive with Clean Skin: Please come to your appointment with no makeup, moisturiser, perfume, deodorant, or any skincare products on the treatment area.
  • Please advise us prior to attending if you have any cold or flu like symptoms.

 

 

Please ensure to contact the clinic on 08 7119 8969 and advised us prior if:

 

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • You have any active infections, cold sores, or open wounds in the treatment area

  • You are currently taking any antibiotics, photosensitising medications, or Roaccutane

  • You have a history of keloid scarring or post-inflammatory pigmentation
